So, you took some great pictures and you are going to upload them to the site. Another very important step for you is going to be key words selection. You shouldn't let this thing go hang, but treat it with all seriousness. Even the most impeccable image will not be able to ensure your profit by itself. Without key words the customer will not see it. Carefully chosen key words will help us sell your picture, as images are searched in the stock according to these key words. Later, when the image is published, the key word will be the last and the only step before your picture is purchased.
The picture's plot is the source of key words.
Look at the picture and describe what you see. Imagine you are describing the picture to a person who has never seen it before. You are asked questions that you need to answer. In fact, you will need to answer questions as: "What? Where? When?"
First of all describe the picture in general. Try to fit the description into one sentence; it shouldn't be too long, at the same time highlighting the main objects in the picture. In other words, who or what is in front of me? For example: "high-rise building", "river bank", "person with a dog in the park", "girl with an umbrella" and so on.
Each of the personages and objects in the picture has its own characteristics, such as color, size, volume, current condition and a lot more.
Let's say, in the picture there is a "person with a dog in the park". This person can be a man or a woman - these are the most general notions. They can also be of different age, then it'll be appropriate to expand the description, as a boy or a girl, an old lady or an old man. As pictures with people are more popular and asked for, you should start the description with specifying that.
Look for as many adjectives that can be used to define the main characteristics of the objects depicted. Pretty, tall, fat, skinny, aged, young, lonely, cheerful. Remember to use synonyms.
Then you need to identify the kinds of activity that takes place in the picture. The person can be seated, he can stand, go or run, read, drink, eat, swim, work, dance, sing, think, write, talk.
Then describe the place, i.e. where? Park, lake, bus stop, subway, street, stadium. Specify geographic location if there are obvious details that indicate it.
When is everything happening? Specify season and time of the day.
So, the final step would be specifying "abstract" or symbolical key words. Try to find associations for the image, that is, what it could symbolize. A guy and a girl smiling to each other will most likely symbolize love or joy. If it's a bicycle, the association might be with sport. It will be better if you include several such words into your list. Turn on your imagination, but don't get carried away.
Very often authors use popular key words that can't be applied to the image. Trying to promote their pictures they risk falling into disfavor of editors. Remember, it's better to make some effort and show true professionalism than try the moderator’s patience.
